One year ago today, we hosted our country and western themed styled shoot! Country and western styling has been a growing wedding theme, and we’ve seen loads of little country and western details at our weddings over the last few years. These include cowboy boots, personalised denim jackets, a tractor, hay bales, and even a horse! We’re big fans of country music, so we thought we’d give it a go as well.
The Look
One of the most fun ways to embrace this theme is through what you wear. A short wedding dress fits this style fantastically and is a trend which has exploded in popularity. If your heart is set on a longer dress, then you could consider a second look for your evening celebration. This dress was provided by Rasha Kashou and looked stunning throughout the shoot.
The suit from The Cotswold Tailor was another perfect match, featuring a green tweed jacket and trousers. The floral tie complemented the buttonhole beautifully, both of which were elegantly created alongside the bouquet by Bracken and Fleur. Dried flowers are a staple of this theme, and this natural bouquet and button-hole were one of the most beautiful we’ve ever seen.
The wedding look isn’t done until the finishing touches, which were provided by Zaphir Design.
The Ceremony
Is it really a country and western themed wedding if it’s not outdoors? The UK weather can be unpredictable, but it was perfect for this shoot! The ceremony took place in the Farmhouse garden, which truly shines in late spring and early summer. The explosion of colour is always a sight to behold.
Outdoor ceremonies at Worton Hall take place beneath the pagoda at the bottom of the garden and were beautifully decorated by The WedShed. The colour scheme embraced white and earthy tones, featuring grand floral displays, particularly on the pagoda arch, chair sashes, and even disco balls, which glistened beautifully in the sunshine.
The ceremony was full of country and western-inspired touches, including a celebratory shot of tequila to tie the knot and smashing the glasses! The couple also jumped the broom, which was decorated with straw. This tradition symbolises new beginnings by jumping into your new life and sweeping away the past.
The Décor
The themed décor continued into the main hall. Rustic tables and Chiavari chairs set the foundation, layered with elegant silk fabric and centred with coloured vases filled with feathers and dried plants. The tableware matched the tone, including braided placemats, rustic orange napkins, and tinted glassware. Finished with menus and stationery from Lauren Daisy, which introduced a soft pastel pink and orange palette, adding a pop of colour. The disco balls lining the ends of the tables were our favourite decorative touch from the theme, especially when the sunlight shone through the barn’s arrow-slit windows, reflecting off them for a dazzling effect.
The cake and display brought all the elements of the theme together with a lovely white and orange colour scheme, finished with autumnal florals.
The Reception
One of the things which makes this such a fun wedding theme are the optional extras available throughout your day. In the Farmhouse garden, we had carnival games from Mr Hire Heaven, including mini golf and Nerf shooting! Inside, the bride and groom enjoyed a round of beer pong.
The bride’s personalised jacket with tassels and bejewelled cowboy hat were great fashion statements to end the night, fitting in perfectly with the late-night line dancing.
